Yes, yes ... i should have posted this a few days ago but the Worldwide Short Film Festival is on here in Toronto and I’ve been busy introducing screenings and taking care of film makers and the like and, well, I just sort of missed it, really.  Anyway:  the first tiles for the annual Fantasia Festival in Montreal have just been announced and there are some dandies among them.  A sampling?  Repo: The Genetic Opera, The Echo, 4Bia, Let the Right One In, [REC], Bad Biology, Tokyo Gore Police and more, more, more!  Plan on making the trip, it’s a good time ...

Ah, if only it was so easy to make a trip from Ukraine to Canada…

I’ve been to Fantasia film festival years ago when it came to Toronto.  It was my first taste of Jet Li films before he made it big in the U.S. among other great films like Wong Kar Wais Ashes of Time.  This was during a time when internet was still young, and many asian movies were out of reach.  But the festival was held at the famous Bloor Cinema, and sponsered by my fav Toronto video store Suspect.  Suspect at the back of Honest Eds is just as eclectic as this site in its viewing catalogue.  It was so in tune with Toronto, its a shame Fantasia doesn’t show up here each year and you have to go to Montreal to attend it.
