Funny Village Of The Damned? Trailer For KALA MALAM BULAN MENGAMBANG

This sounds like it could be real fun. Malaysian director Mamat Khalid’s last film was the horror spoof Zombi Kampung Pisang. Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang (When The Moon Rises) looks even better. First, it’s a period film in black and white. Secondly, the story sounds like it was written by a raving lunatic ... which is actually a good thing.

Saleh (played by Rosyam Nor), a reporter, is stranded in a strange village after his car is damaged by a mysterious object. He soon discovers that a man disappears from the village on every full moon night. There are rumours that a pontianak (female vampire) is the culprit. Saleh, blaming it on his journalistic instincts, can’t help but investigate. In the course of his (mis)adventures, he meets a mysterious beauty, Cik Putih (Umie Aida), and falls in love with her. And amidst it all, are a desperate lounge singer, the British army, communists, a “Kolonel Che Guevera,” and Fuad, his shape-shifting sergeant.
