Kamikaze Girls

With the Turkish film industry exploding right now there are a number of titles coming down the line worthy of attention - see yesterday’s entry about Semum - but the two front runners are clearly religio-horror Musallat and supernaturally charged costume drama Ulak. Both boast stellar cinematography and effects work bolstered with what look to be believable, compelling performances and both look to be the sort of things that’ll travel well on the festival circuit. We’ve tracked both for a good long time now and our patience has just been rewarded with a new theatrical trailer for Ulak which showcases the historical flavor and detailed production design, not to mention the full cast and some impressive effects shots.
