Beautiful
We posted a pair of clips from Russian comedy Самый лучший ф a while back and now the full theatrical trailer for the broad slapstick farce has arrived. Obviously some of the references are lost in translation but the production values are fantastic and anyone with any knowledge of recent Russian film at all will get a good laugh out of the treatment they receive here. This looks like hysterical stuff in a very Zucker Brothers sort of way ...

What a shame… He-he… Actually the title is not correct. it is “Самый лучший фильм” which means “The best film”.

It’d be nice if an eventual release of something like that led to more Russian dvd releases with subs. There’ve been a ton recently that I’m really interested in that simply aren’t available subbed.

I meant to say that the release of a film like this might lead to a higher profile for the films that it’s actually parodying - resulting in subbed releases/rereleases.

Tuan, Which ones are you interested in seeing? The only recent russian film I can think of being subbed is Trackman ( terrible film though ), although alldvd.ca sites states the dvd doesnt have eng but it Definately does
And Paragraf 78 has recieved a subtitled dvd release in Brazil.

Sorry about the late response. There’ve been a number of Russian films featured (mostly unsubbed trailers) here on Twitch that I’d love to watch (and order online) if I could find a legit subbed version anywhere.
For example: Bimmer 2 (most obvious - so lucky that the Singapore R3 of the first film was available); The Turkish Gambit - spy movie based on historical fiction novels; Aziris Nuna - may end up being stupid, but looks like a lot of fun; Derzkiedni (sp?) - fun looking parkour action/comedy; Piter FM - romantic comedy; Don’t know the name for it but there was a very interesting looking comedy/fantasy about some kid who finds a genie (russian style - included some animation/live action mix clips) - I have a couple different trailers for this one and it looked pretty interesting. Twitch also featured a nifty looking Russian animation some time back - fantasy/historical action - supposedly for a tv show I think(?).
I’d love to at least be able to check those out on legit subbed dvds - for some reason some of those ones (russian only) are listed on the Russian sites (ie. alldvd.ca) as not even being widescreen - although I don’t know if that’s a mistake or not.
My current Russian film (Russian DVDs) list is still fairly small - mostly from alldvd.ca: Nochnoi Dozor, Dzedni Dozor (sp?) - original Russian subbed release, Brat, Planeta Bur, Swordbearer, Bimmer, 9th Company, and some other collected miniseries I can’t remember the title for. (bonus points for special ordering the Russian R5 2disk SE of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust ;p)
