We first linked to the initial trailer for Norwegian noir Varg Veum - Bitre Blomster back in July and that first, impressive teaser has now been joined by an even more impressive theatrical trailer. Between this film and Ole Bornedal’s Just Another Love Story plus another Danish noir coming from Soren Kragh Jacobson there appears to be a solid noir boom rolling in the Nordic world right now and I say bring it on. These all just look stellar ...
Though this hasn’t been released yet the Varg Veum films are already a big deal in their native country, the production company having staked a huge amount of capital on their success, signing up Trond Espen Seim to play the character in a whopping six projects - two for theatrical release, four for television - already, banking on the popularity of the best selling novels by Gunnar Staalesen. Will they be able to sustain it for six films? No idea, but this first one certainly looks to be starting things off on the right foot ...

Bitre blomster actually opened here last week, and the reviews have generally been unfavorable, ranging from average to bad.
