Fresh Stills From Van Damme’s JCVD!

Is it wrong to be so excited about an upcoming Jean Claude Van Damme movie? And I’m not just excited in a nostalgic way, either, I truly believe this could be something exceptional whether you were weaned on Cyborg or not. Okay, for those not paying attention, JCVD is an upcoming French production starring Van Damme as Van Damme, the washed out movie star on the set of yet another straight to video cheapie, fresh out of rehab and having just lost custody of his daughter. In other words, this is Van Damme starring as himself. The entire project is set up to allow the Belgian star to poke fun both at himself and celebrity as a whole and it not only looks remarkably smart but, based on the promo I saw in Berlin and the new photos from the publicity book published by Gaumont, also exceptionally well shot. Based on what I’ve seen so far I’d almost go so far as to say that this is Van Damme through a Charlie Kauffman sort of lens and that, boys and girls, is pretty spiffy. We’ve posted a pair of teasers in the past - both of which you’ll find below the break - and now I’ve got a trio of images lifted from the PR booklet. Very nice. Hit the link below for those.

Aw man, that trailer was hilarious! My interest in this film just went from zero to about a 7-8.
