The Lady Constables

Why, yes, that is Reece Shearsmith from the much loved (in these parts, anyway) League of Gentlemen in the still to the left and once you dig into the other stills below you’ll quickly see that he is paired here with Andy Serkis of King Kong and Lord of the Rings fame. The film in question is The Cottage, a new UK horror comedy from writer-director Paul Andrew Williams. The duo star as bumbling kidnappers looking to make a quick score by ransoming the daughter of a powerful gang boss but things quickly turn bad with the gangsters quickly on their tale, the daughter taking one of her captors captive, and the whole lot soon becoming prey to a fearsome serial killer loose in the countryside. There’s no trailer for this yet but I did catch a promo of it at the AFM and it looks to be very bloody, very funny stuff though the similarities to Severance - this one directly lifts the bear trap gag - likely guarantee it will receive, at best, a straight to video release in North America thanks to Severance‘s less than stellar box office performance. A half dozen stills from the film have been released, you’ll find them in the gallery below.

Hi, this is the director here who is in Germany with a bit of time to kill so I googled the film to have look what is out there. I am so so glad that you put the photo’s up but I just wanted to point out that I wrote the script 5 years ago, way before Severence was put to paper and didn#t steel the bear trap. I am sure I have stolen it from somewhere, or something over the many years I have been watching tv, but I can assure you it wasn’t that film. Word up to the US!!!!!!!!! x
