First Teaser For Finnish Horror Film SAUNA!

Yes, we have been anticipating this for a long time. Young Finnish director AJ Annila turned a lot of heads with his debut film - the first ever Nordic wuxia picture Jade Warrior - and for his follow up the Finn has turned to the world of horror. We got the first still for the film a while back and now we have just been slipped the first teaser for the picture, which looks absolutely fantastic. A cruel horror film bathing in the Finnish sauna culture, in the no-zone between Christianity and paganism. A story of two brothers, who leave a young girl to die and become haunted by her, as she follows them in supernatural form, her face pouring with endless filth. The brothers escape with a commission marking the border between Russia and Finland to a Russian-Orthodox village. In there they find a sauna - The sauna where all sins are washed away. Seeking for forgiveness, the brothers step into the sauna…
Sauna is a horror film about sins, repentance and forgiveness. The story leads us into the core of darkness, where there is no forgiveness, no hope, no salvation.

Everything I’ve seen of the film looks really excellent. Especially when considering that Finland isn’t known for genre films this looks like to be something new.

Looking really impressive. I was one of those who did, in the end, like Jade Warrior quite a lot (I’ve seen it three times now so I’m pretty sure I’ve established my opinion) and it’s really great to see Annila taking this road by making a somewhat low budget horror-ish flick to develop his talents.
By the way, that game on the website is pretty cool text-and-pics-based game (which, for some reason, gave me a “The Road” feeling) and if you finish it you’ll be given a little video clip in the end.
