We’ve been following the work of Micah Moore for a good while around here, ever since he first appeared on the scene with the ridiculous - and ridiculously fun - short film Ninjas Versus Pirates a while back and we’ve been anxiously awaiting his debut feature effort for over a year now.  Back in April of 2006 we reported on a Moore feature project titled Chinatown Dick, which Moore described as a darkly comic noir action piece shot in the stark black and white style of Sin City.  Well, it looks like that project has taken a bit of a turn, becoming something slightly more serious, but it is now nearing completion as Dogs of Chinatown.  Here’s the skinny:

“Dogs of Chinatown” is an artsy gangster action flick. This is the debut feature film written, directed and shot by Micah Moore. Production crew also includes Blake Faucette (producer), Jesse Knight (key grip) and Andy Coon (behind-the-scenes). The film features martial arts action by Eric Jacobus and Ray Carbonel of The Stunt People, a great choreography crew from San Fransisco. Eric Jacobus and Huyen Thi play star-crossed lovers caught in a dangerous affair while a war rages between the Italian Mafia and Chinese Triad.

Moore shoots on ridiculously low budgets but the man knows his stuff and how to wring the most out of every shot - as do fight choreography crew The Stunt People - and I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.  Be aware that the current trailer is cut together from totally raw footage: there has been no post or ADR work done yet.
