Superman III
Apart from ’Airplane‘, the only America show I’ve always wanted to see make an appearance on DVD. Same kind of humour, but wondering how well it stands up because I’ve not seen it in many years (simply hasn’t been repeated here in the U.K for many moons) and because the style of comedy has been run into the ground by Leslie Nielsen in one form or another of light comedy parody for any genre you care to name. Doesn’t this show feel vastly underrated, buried or ignored? I think so.
Even the ’Naked Gun‘ films, whilst initially funny as hell, fell apart very quickly, and the ’Loaded Weapon‘ movies were the closest to the classic repeat-worthy stuff of ’Airplane‘. Packed full of jokes, I hope this works well when I get to see it again… [Source : DVDActive].

I had seen the Naked Gun films, but didn’t know about Police Squad for a long time, until I saw it on the BBC one day. Naked Gun is basicly Police Squad: The Movie, but I remember liking Police Squad even better than the movies. This was all years ago though, so like you, I don’t know how well it would hold up today, but I remember a bunch of jokes that would probably still make me laugh.

I thought all three Naked Guns were funny and worthy of a DVD upgrade ala Airplane!, since that was one of the best SEs of 2005. Certainly the series is not complete on DVD without any Nielsen participation in the discs, so another “Long Haul” version with interviews from Nielsen, Presley, the various villains, George Kennedy, and perhaps even Simpson really should be done before one of these great performers leaves us forever. Also, much like Airplane!, the oft-shown-on-TV deleted scenes and outtakes should really be added, and whatever else they can think of.

I first saw Police Squad in COLOR before any of the films, and it blew me away. Airplane lived up to this series but nothing came close after that. I saw an episode recently on telly and I laughed until my head exploded - and it really did actually explode.
I’m a buyer.

I remember every line from the first naked gun movie. As a french-canadian, i first saw those movie with a french translation which were great too when i was too young to know english. I have to say that the original are bnetter of course. I knew about the Police Squad series but tought that i’d never see them in my life. Now my dream comes true.
