DVD Roundup! EXILED and SEVEN SWORDS Hit Blu-Ray!

Oh, I think I’m going to have to invest in some new hardware for Twitch HQ sometime soon because now that the format war is well and truly over the Blu Ray releases are coming fast and furious and since we’re in the same Blu-Ray region as all the major Asian countries we’re good to go on all of these. What’s coming?
First up, Johnnie To’s stunning gangster flick Exiled. This is not only a brilliant film but also brilliantly photographed and will definitely benefit from the Blu Ray experience. Between this, PTU and Mad Detective, To fans are in high def paradise. The new HK Blu Ray of Exiled is also region free so our European friends are also good to go on this one.
Second? Tsui Hark’s Seven Swords. Some love it, some hate it, I’m somewhere in between but I don’t think anybody can deny that the visuals are incredible and also a very good choice for the Blu Ray treatment. This one’s Blu Ray region A so no go in Europe unless you’ve got a modified deck but it’s good to go throughout North America.
And, finally, a pair of conventional DVD releases. Korean sex comedy A Tale of Legendary Libido hits July 15th while freshly released is Hong Kong gore flick Devil Fetus which I know nothing about other than the fact that it’s gorey and it’s got a DEVIL FETUS. I may have to order it based on that fact alone.

Why don’t they go ahead and release the full uncut original version of SEVEN SWORDS on Blu-Ray while they’re at it? That’s the only version I’m interested in watching and there’d certainly be enough space on one of them thingies.

There is also some sort of 3 disc HK edition of Warlords coming out tomorrow. Hard to see if the other two discs are subbed in English, but I’d pick it up for a reasonable price.

Exiled is awesome. Glad to see there is a bluray for it coming out. I too think they should release the full cut of Seven Swords since the story development in the one they released seemed very rushed. the Warlords bluray sounds sweet too. Too bad I already have it on DVD. If it is reasonably cheap, I might buy it though. I am waiting for Red Cliff on Blu-ray. Now that will be Sweet!

Seven Swords full cut is suppose to be like 4 hours long, and even with that i have my doubts about that being something i should really watch. SS was a mixed bag, not bad but neither a timeless masterpiece. Just somebody get Tsui Hark a good editor.
