Ashes of Time
Mark this Fri & Sat March 16 & 17, 2007 on your calenders. On one of those days you should take a mid afternoon nap so you’ll be all refreshed and able to attend a special midnight screening of Director Gary Sherman’s 80s horror classic Dead and Buried @ the Music Box Theatre (3733 N. Southport Ave., Chicago, IL).
People are suddenly dying in the lovelyside town of Potter’s Bluff and what’s more the townsfolk are the ones doing it. Besides Stan Winstons outstanding gore effects this film also offers a wry and even moving take on what has become the monster of the new millenium- zombies! And the cast is absolutely perfect. Robert Englund before he was Freddy and a host of other well known character actors join jack Albertson in his final role and James Farantino. Written by the creators of Alien this film has aged beautfully and still manages to deliver shocks as well as telling a great story.
This is a rare chance to see this film as it was intended to be seen in 35mm. Gary Sherman will be in attendance and yours truly will conduct the onstage interview and audience Q&A.
Also in attendance will be Rod Gudino introducing his festival favorite short film: “The Eyes of Edward James.”
Only $9.25 at the door gets you this plus we’ll also be give away a few Grindhouse posters and autographed copies of Dead & Buried! Also - we’ll be showing classic Gary Sherman 35mm trailers for Dead & Buried, Poltergeist III, and Vice Squad along with 35mm trailers of Dead Ringers, Phantasm and Christine!
Presented by Fangoria.com and Rue Morgue.
