Todd may be out of the country, but that hasn’t stopped him from digging up the brand new trailer for The Day Watch, the second part in the Russian genre-bending epic trilogy started with The Night Watch (Nochnoj dozor, reviews here and here. Almost every shot in this new trailer (in glorious Quicktime, no less) is new footage from the previous trailer and teaser.
Much like the first film, from the trailer I had no idea how all these disparate images will fit together - and well, they don’t always. The fact that The Night Watch is structurally messy is part of its charm. Really.

That is by far the best looking thing to come out of this particular fantasy world so far ... this one looks far better than the first and may even redeem all the time spent with the lady in the curse spiral in that one ... it seemed a little distracting from the main story in part one but it looks as though she’s becoming more central ...
