Whoopsie, our mistake.  We reported here that Urasawa Naoki’s 20th Century Boys manga was coming to screens in 2008 as an anime adaptation.  We got the date and on screens part right, but it turns out that this is actually a live action feature rather than an anime series.  Whoops.  Isn’t it fun working with languages that you don’t speak?  Regardless, given that this is sourced by material from the mind behind Monster, it’s definitely one to look out for regardless of the medium ...

    Bah. Horrible news.
An anime could have worked, but from the few volumes I’ve read of the manga (and it’s pretty darn good) it’s totally impossible to translate the plot into a two hour movie.

I predict this will end up as a poor live-action effort like Mushishi or the Death Note movies.

yeah! can´t believe it. I´ve read 20 volumes and it´s just madness think of the plot resumed on 2 hours. if only were live-action series…
damn, would be just wonderful to wath this story with all the soundtrack suggested on the manga.

They did hire one of the best directors out there, Yukihiko Tsutsumi.

I recall reading when it was announced that they were doing three features, but haven’t seen anything on that recently…
