Those of you who read Twitch regularly are no doubt aware that I’ve become a big fan of Brazilian director Carlos Gananian recently - my review of his trio of short films is here - and so I am very pleased to say that Twitch will be hosting full, downloadable versions of all three of Gananian’s short films in very short order. Akai, his first professional work and by far the longest of the three, is going to take a little more work to prep for download but his two student shorts - Behemoth and Coagula - are available now. Though these are both quite brief and limited in scope both showcase Gananian’s incredible visual style and his ability to tell a story entirely wordlessly ...

I didn’t like these, but I didn’t expect that I would after seeing the trailers. However, I am expecting something good from Akai and it is very nice that we have the opportunity to watch these shorts in full length.

rest assured boys and girls, AKAI is fantastic. The best riff on Poe’s THE TELLTALE HEART I’ve seen in ages.
