Once Upon a Time in the West
UPDATE: I’ve boosted this back to the top because it’s now available for pre-order, and I’m not disappointed about the pricetag ($78,99 SRP, but already available for much less).
We’ve been waiting for this news for a long time, but several sites report that the US region one DVD-editions of Ridley Scott’s final and approved version of “Blade runner” have finally been announced.
Special thanks to DVD-Active, who I think were the first to report this.
There’ll be 2-disc, 4-disc, 5-disc, HD-DVD and BluRay versions, and I have no doubt whatsoever they’ll be delicious, all of them, seeing as who has been involved with these.
“Blade Runner” is the only movie in my personal top 25 that I actually haven’t bought on DVD yet, because I was sort-of waiting for someone to make this edition. Absolutely everything you’d want is in there including the (in)famous workprint with alternative music.
The release date is the 18th of December, so guess what I’ll be asking Santa?
More news at the following links, including pictures of what the different sets will allegedly look like.
Amazon has it ready for pre-order
Well done DVD-Active
Are these real? Well done Zona-DVD!
The best yet: The Digital Bits confirm everything!
And they have a picture of the inside of the case!!!
Of course I put something in the forum as well

Check out the suitcase guys, there’s even a toy police-"car" in there.
This set is my holy grail for this year…

How have Warner been in terms of region locking their Blu Rays?
I’m getting that suitcase.

Too bad they dont just put this movie, and alot of others out on 1 DVD instead of all the Disk sets for people like me that dont like all the extras disks crap. ‘I have never bought a box set, and never will.’
I am not putting you other guys down for wanting the Box Set, I’m just saying there are alot of us that dont like the Box Sets, all we want is the movie.

Hmmm. No word on HD versions. But I ordered mine anyway, I’ll just cancel it when the HD version is announced and if it’s region free.

awww yea, just preordered. so looking forward to this

ASIAN FLIX, what’s wrong with the 2 disc? That’s only one disc too many. And if that bothers you, go with one of the many 1-disc versions of Blade Runner that are out.
Sure, those won’t have the “Final Edition” version but this movie is pretty good whichever version you take. Unless you’re a superfan who wants them all,in which case…
...go for the 5 disc edition!

I don’t really like the look of the suitcase or the extra thingies that come with it (where’s the soundtrack? Where’s the artbook!? You had Syd Mead as a concept artist for crying out loud..), thus I’ll be going with the 5-disc non-suitcase HD release. I just hope they won’t force the horrible HD DVD / Blu-ray cover art on it.
Really interested in hearing the audio commentaries (Syd Mead is on one of them!) and I love how they decided to use the Struzan art piece for the 2-disc set. It was actually made for this release ages ago and now it finally got to see the daylight…
