Tony Jaa.  Jackie Chan.  Drunken Master 3.  Whee!

Can you say “Passing the torch”?  Word is that Jaa is already at work learning English in preperation for this film in which he’ll play Chan’s pupil in the art of Drunken Boxing.  I have no idea how the writers will get around Jackie’s alcohol induced brain damage from the end of part two, but frankly I really don’t care.  I’ll accept just about anything that gets this made.

By my count this makes three new projects currently in the works for Jaa, not including Tom Yum Goong.  There’s a rumored weapons-based historical epic, the sequel to Ong Bak and now Drunken Master 3.  Nice.

I thought Drunken Master III already had been made with Andy Lau as Wong Fei-Hung and Lau Kar-Leung (co-director of Drunken Master II) as director?

I doubt its true, and really hope that it isnt.  Chan allowed America to ruin him, I hope Jaa steers clear, and from watching Ong Bak, I dont think the clown of martial arts movies is the angle he is going for. Stay away America,, stop trying to force your influence on Asia, you have tried before and failed, leave them alone.

You know, I like Chan, I have no idea how the Wong Fei-Hong thing is going to work, but you know what… I don’t care… come on, the Wong Fei-Hong movies are awesome and all, but the thing that is just awesome beyond belief are the crazy things involved in Drunken Boxing!  I believe Drunken Master is the best Kung Fu Film ever made!  I was very entertained by it, and I likes it, I say!  The comedy wasn’t entertaining, but seeing the physical work that went into that coreography and movement just does it for me in the best of ways.  I think it’s great and I would pay 20 bucks to see it in the theaters.  I would even buy the DVD and not resell it after I watch it.

    Billy,

I agree, Chan’s early work was fantastic, its only his American stuff I dont like, they have made him a ‘buddy movie’ star, which sucks given his previous work.
Also, if you like Drunken Master, check out Drunken Master 2, or Legend of the drunken master as its also known, its possibly Chans best fight coreography Chan has ever done.  You can get it at play.com on R1 for £14.99, bargain!!

    Oh,
Almost forgot, during his recent promtional tour for the American release of Ong Bak, Jaa denied any involvement with Drunken Master 3, but said he is looking at a project with Chan.
