And The Move To The New Video System Begins Now ...

Okay ... as mentioned a week or two back our current video provider is shutting down their free service and charging a ludicrous amount of money for their pay service, which means the Twitch Player is moving.  I’m very pleased with the new system and think it’ll serve us well but the downside is that we need to move our content over.  And we’ve got a lot of content.  And I’m just one guy.  So if any of you out there have got some of the trailers and things that we have in the current Twitch Player - or that you think we should have in the new player - then please take a moment to load ‘em up into the new system by using the upload form embedded below the break.  It’s quick and easy and any help that you can offer is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Please make use of the keywords field!  Keywords help make the trailers searchable so the more accurate keywords you use, the better!  Separate individual keywords with a comma!

Damn! I got a superb HD trailer for Makoto Shinkai’s Byousoku 5 cm that you neeeeed on the videoplayer. But it’s in .mkv format….. who the hell invented that crappy codec? :(

Sooooo, we’re redoing the same thing we did a year ago with this player?  Good thing I haven’t erased any of my collection that I previously uploaded (or did I? - better check).

I certainly hope it’s easier this time without that timeout crap.

I have a back-up of all the stuff I uploaded into the twitchplayer, but re-uploading ALL is going to be an insane job and I’m a bit short on time for the moment (well, make that always) ... but I’ll give it a go if I can ... I’ll try to upload a few bits and pieces tonite to see how it goes ...

Define “flagrantly break the law”. I have Charlie Deaux’s ‘Zoetrope’ which has the trailer, but does that give me the thumbs-up to upload it?

If you’re in the US you’re probably flagrantly breaking the law uploading any trailer you didn’t make yourself.  But you’re also used to lying about it when asked by forms such as this one.

Not so much, Rhythm-X.  Propagation of materials created and released for promotional materials is covered by fair use.  You may not own them but you’re using them as they were intended to be used so it’s in the clear.

And pdli_5 ... we were actually given an exclusive on that Zoetrope trailer way back in the day so, yeah, we absolutely have permission to use it.  Upload away!

Thanks for helping out, everyone ... this new system is a paid system so it shouldn’t be going anywhere any time soon.

Trailers as fair use has been ruled both ways in courts, so it’s kind of sketchy. I don’t think most companies care as long as they’re getting exposure and the video quality does the movie justice. Flagrantly breaking the law would be making your own cam footage trailers in iMovie and setting them to Prince songs.

what filesize/format is the preferred one ?
i got most trailers in quicktime.

It can handle pretty much anything.  File sizes up to 300 meg.
