American Film Market (AFM): Update on Pål Sletaune’s NEXT DOOR (NABOER), starring Kristoffer Joner,

There’s a downloadable English-subtitled trailer for Pål Sletaune’s psychological thriller Next Door (Naboer) on the website of Nordisk Film International Sales. There are JPEGs of 14 stills from the movie on the website of Verdens Gang AS.

Next Door was produced by Spillefilmkompaniet 4 1/2 AS (Norway), with the support of Memfis Film International AB (Sweden - 1,000,000 SEK), Zentropa Productions2 (Denmark - 600,000 DKK) and the Norsk Filmfond (Norway - 8,000,000 NOK); it had a budget of 15,154,846 NOK (approx. 2.4 million USD). It premièred at Filmport 05 in Norway on March 10th of this year, and was released theatrically in Norway by Columbia TriStar Nordisk Film Distributors AS (CTN) the following day.

Distribution rights for Next Door are being offered for sale by Nordisk Film International Sales at this year’s American Film Market (AFM) in Santa Monica, California. The movie is being screened at the Fairmont on Monday November 7th at 11:00 a.m..

The screenplay for Next Door was written by (Pål) Sletaune. As was reported here on Twitch back on March 20th, the movie starred Kristoffer Joner as John, Cecilie Mosli as Anne, Julia Schacht as Kim, Anna Bache-Wiig as Ingrid, and Michael Nyqvist as Åke. It was scored by Simon Boswell.

Here’s a synopsis for Next Door from Nordisk Film International Sales’ website: “NEXT DOOR is a psychological thriller with strong sexual undercurrents. The main character in the film, John, has just been left by his partner Ingrid. As he one day runs into his two beautiful neighbours Anne and Kim, he allows himself to be seduced, and is drawn into a game in which he finds it increasingly impossible to distinguish between truth and lies.”

Naboer is already out on DVD here in Norway. And yes it does have English subtitles. A goog psychological thriller.
