Amenabar Is Headed To Ancient Egypt!

And he’s taking Rachel Weisz with him!

Speculation has been running wild about what is coming next for Alejandro Amenabar for quite some time now, speculation fueled in no small part by his absolute refusal to say a word about what his plans were to follow The Sea Inside, all anyone knowing that it was truly epic in scope.  Well, no more.

Variety has just gotten the details on the director’s next and it sounds fascinating.  Titled Agora it stars Rachel Weisz as ancient Egyptian astrologer Hypatia of Alexandria, an actual historical figure, caught in the religious rioting that swept the nation with the rise of Christianity.  Amenabar reportedly aims to make this as realistic as possible which makes for all sorts of interesting possibilities ...
