AFTER THIS OUR EXILE (FUZI) To Open In Malaysia And Singapore Dec 7

Hong Kong veteran Patrick Tam’s much welcome return to the director’s chair after 17 years yielded the acclaimed After This Our Exile (Fuzi). According to Focus Films, which handles After This Our Exile’s international sales, the film will open in both Malaysia and Singapore on Dec 7.
The Chinese title means “father and son,” and the story takes place in rural Malaysia among the Chinese community there. Pop star Aaron Kwok takes on a challenging role as an abusive husband who gradually loses his wife, job and home, but finds loyalty in his young son (Ian Gouw Iskandar).
After This Our Exile won Best Asian Film and Best Artistic Contribution at the recently concluded Tokyo International Film Festival, and has just garnered three wins at the Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan for Best Film, Best Actor (Kwok), and Best Supporting Actor (Iskandar).
Tam dedicates the film to “All my students, Malaysia and Hong Kong.” Some Malaysian filmmakers still remember Tam’s engaging film appreciation sessions held in Kuala Lumpur some time in the late 1990s.
