Rogue Pictures Presents THE UNBORN Now Playing

It was widely reported a good while back that Samuel L Jackson would be providing the voice of the lead character in Afro Samurai, a new animated show being produced by Japan’s Gonzo Animation for America’s Spike TV, but it has now been announced that Jackson will also star in and produce a live action film based on the same source manga.
“The story centers on No. 2, the Afro Samurai, who travels the road looking for revenge on those who murdered his father in front of him when he was just a boy. His nemesis is No. 1, a three-armed gunman who is the lord of the dark swordsman’s road.”
A three armed gunman? Curious to see how they’ll make that work in live action ... the film is slated for a 2007 release ...

*sigh*.. Afro Samurai? Samuel L. Jackson? More evidence that anime is so ridiculously popular, it’s now being marketed to the masses more than ever.

Sounds like some new Tarantino shit to me!
Samurai champloo rules anyway, so I don’t give a damn about this new Americanization (yes, they were hip hop and stuff references in Samurai champloo, but it stayed very Japanese…that won’t be the case for this Afro samurai, I’m 100% sure).

This has no relationship to Champloo at all, actually. Afro Samurai was originally a Japanese manga ... this is being based directly on that with the original author still receiving writers credits, so he’s directly involved.

true true anime is finally populating around the US. *finally* i think hip hop and rap has always been one of the best forms of music, and at last people stop lookin at what the media has to say about it!!!

I hope this is very popular and will last. I hope this will be the best in a Japanese format. And in all next to Black Panther!
