Rogue Pictures Presents THE UNBORN Now Playing

Okay, here’s the thing about major sales markets such as the AFM. You get a lot of crap. A lot or bad low budget film making that aspires to attain the level of the straight to video bargain bin. Anybody with a film and the finances to rent screen space at the market can host an official premiere just like all the big kids. And a lot of people who shouldn’t, do. It’s kind of like American Idol that way. But along with the bad low budget stuff you also get the good low budget stuff and Beneath the Mississippi looks like it could be one of the good ones. The story of a documentary film crew trying to unravel the mystery of a flooded island in the Mississippi river where hundreds of people have died joins recent Brit flick The Zombie Diaries in demonstrating that it’s more than possible to adopt a first person, commercial video approach to your film and yet still have it feel cinematic. The actors all look eminently believable and the trailer just has a beautifully creepy tone to it. Very nice. And, yes, the film has its world premiere at the upcoming American Film Market.
