Rogue Pictures Presents THE UNBORN Now Playing

Much acclaimed Japanese animator Koji Yamamura - he was nominated for an Oscar a couple years back for Mt. Head - is headed to the UK for a rare pair of public exhibitions of his work, both of which he will be attending himself. The first is a retrospective hosted by London’s Japan Foundation on October 16th, where Yamamura will be presenting and discussing his work, including his latest piece Old Crocodile. Following this he’ll be headed to the Norwich International Animation Festival from Oct 18-21st. Just getting the chance to see his films is rare enough, never mind the opportunity to have him present and discussing his work ...

Sure wish he would bring his work Stateside.

That’s not how things work unfortunately. SOMEONE ELSE needs to invite him to bring his works Stateside. Independant animators like this just don’t have the time, money, connections, and general ability to promote themselves properly.
But anyway, UK audiences are pretty lucky.

Hmmmmm. Thanks for that insight, Jasper. I’ll send a note to both Pacific Film Archives and the SF Film Society to see if they can’t accomplish something on this front.
