Huzzah!  Much anticipated Korean animated feature Aachi and Ssipak has made a largely unheralded appearance on DVD, English subtitles included!  What’s it about, you ask?  Well, it’s a foul mouthed science fiction tale - with the voice talents of Ryu Seung-Beom - set in a future world powered by feces.  Mmmm ... trailer looks like buckets of fun.

    i was fortunate enough to see this movie a few months ago and i have to say that hidden deep inside all of the well done professional animation and action and effects is really a boring and dull movie.

    i say see it once just to make your own judgments of this movie.  it is a visually stunning film with a great musical score but the story leaves a lot to be desired.

    Unfotunately I have to second that.  Good animation, bad film.  Remember guys, good script will make up for poor animation, but good animation does nothing for a poor script…

    I watched this today and loved every second of it.  Was the story deep ?  Not at all, but I had fun with the film and that’s the most important thing for me.  Thought it was very imaginative at times and whilst the story isn’t deep I thought it was at least original which is pretty rare these days.

    The short running time also added a lot and it knew when not to outstay its welcome.  I would highly recommend it anyway for a bit of bubblegum animated action and there’s a place for that along with the other deeper animated films too.

    @Al

    there’s a difference between “deep” and “good”.  deep would most likely be a psychological heavily debatable and talked about film…good would refer to a movie that was watchable and recommendable.  aachi & ssipak is neither deep nor good.

    top notch animation…horrible story.  let’s see what mtv does with it.  maybe they will turn it into a decent product but don’t count on it.

    The story is sick, sleazy, and disgusting. But overall I thought it was AWESOME!!

    Well personally for me and the mates I watched it with, we found Aachi to be extremely watchable. The one thing I love about the film is that it has no pretensions about itself and knows it’s a low brow action comedy film.  The story fits the film fine and suits its purpose wonderfully

    If you want a film you can watch 5 or 6 times, stoned or straight, this is the MoFo for you…  Its a straight up classic.  The animation steals from all your favorite animations of the past 20 odd years in both style and concept, from Ren & Stimpy to Akira, and serves it up to you in the most tasteless, misogynistic, anti-gay, anti-north korea way, possible.   Its truly Awesome.

    oh you want ‘deep’ or ‘good’ story? f’ off and go watch Tokyo-Godfathers or Kemonozume or something,  pretentious wankers..

    Its a story about a world that lives on shit. Thats clever enough.
