Someone please tell me what is happening in France.  The country is experiencing a huge boom in quality genre film right now with major titles hitting all the big fests around the world and it looks like another one to look out for is Franck Vestiel’s Eden Log.  Now, information on this one is proving mighty hard to come by.  Our own Wolf spotted the trailer but after a good bit of digging around I’ve turned up a whole lot of nothing.  It doesn’t appear to have a website of it’s own, Google came back blank, and there are no entries for it in either the IMDB or the Unifrance sites.  All I’ve got is this French synopsis lifted from Allocine:

Un homme reprend conscience au fin fond d’une grotte. Tolbiac n’a pas la moindre idée des raisons qui l’ont amené jusque-là, pas plus qu’il ne sait ce qui est arrivé à l’homme dont il découvre le cadavre à côté de lui. Seule solution pour échapper à la créature qui le poursuit : remonter jusqu’à la surface à travers un réseau aux allures de cimetière et abandonné par une mystérieuse organisation, Eden Log.

Someone with better French than I care to translate?  Really, though, that’s not all we’ve got.  We’ve got director Vestiel’s resume and it’s a damn impressive one.  First AD on Marc Caro’s Dante 01.  First AD on David Moreau and Xavier Palud’s Ils.  AD on Florent Siri’s The Nest.  So, yeah, this is his directorial debut but he’s been a key player on some great titles already ...

Plot: A man resumes conscience to the end melts of a cave.  Tolbiac has not the least idea of the reasons that brought it previously, not more than it does not know this that arrived to the man of which it discovers the corpse next to him.  Alone solution to escape the creature that follows it: to climb back up to the surface through a network to the cemetery paces and abandoned by a mysterious organization, Eden Log

Hm, that’s a nice try by machine translator. Let me try, although a native French speaker could probably do better:
“A man regains consciousness at the bottom of a cave. Tolbiac has not got the slightest idea what events brought him there, nor what has happened to the man whose corpse he discovers next to him. The only way to escape the creature that pursues him: climb to the surface through a series of paths with the atmosphere of a graveyard, abandoned by a mysterious organization: Eden Log.”

well, that’s a nice try by a non native French speaker.  Let me try, although an omniscient being could probably do better:
“A human male wakes from slumber at the depths of a very big hole.  Tobias has not but a few ideas what things has made him be here, not even what the corpse is all about next to him not living.  The way for getting home involves creatures following and climbing cemetery like graveyards, abandoned by secret groups with mysterious things: Eden Wood.”

the “Frank D”‘s translation is the better one ( i’m french )

I’m french speaking so I thought i’d try my own translation, though it doesn’t add much to Frank D’s translation:
“A man awakens deep down in a cave. Tolbiac doesn’t have the slightest idea of the reasons that brought him there, nor of what happened to the men whose dead body’s lying beside him. The only way to escape the creature pursuing him: climb back to the surface through a cemetery like network, abandoned by a mysterious organisation, Eden Log.”
Feel free to correct any grammary error…

    Well that was simple !!!

So all that’s left is to translate the picture:

    Is it the creature?
    Is it the man?
Is it the corpse, no longer lying down?

He he. They have used the same soundtrack for the trailer that we used for our Unholy Night trailer, which we took from the Dawn of the Dead remake trailer.
