Tales from Earthsea
A warm farewell and best wishes here to Logboy, who has decided that the time has come to part ways with Twitch to pursue other interests. While he wasn’t quite a day-one guy here at Twitch, he was pretty close to being that and has been the man behind a lot of our Japanese cult, anime and Brit TV news. His departure leaves some large shoes to fill and we wish him well wherever he lands.

As the Bard would say, “Parting is such sweet sorrow!” Put another “Log” on the fire for Logboy’s departure…

Very unexpected, and I’ll miss the “other voice” in discussions.
Good luck Paul!

i understand that it’s possible some will wonder why i myself didn’t tell everyone in the staff of my intentions to depart. there was no disrespect meant, i simply chose to inform todd last weekend and asked him to make the announcement in order to make things as efficient as possible.
i’ll take this opportunity to try to say a big thanks to everyone who contributes around here that manages to find a way to make themselves heard; staff or readers / commentators. that they speak up on a regular basis is pretty selfless and brave in a field of sharing knowledge that expects a lot and doesn’t always do something in return.
i know for certain whatever people add to the site that it often takes many more hours of digging away to get something together, let alone the efforts of actual constructing a post. whether or not we do (or have) make / made a difference, i don’t know, but it’s possible from the inside of a site like this to sense a certain amount of things shifting around as a result of what’s being done here, just not in the areas i’m most concerned about which should be regarded as fundamentals - this isn’t the end of me and films, this isn’t the end of me and writing, but it’s the end of what i shall always consider my foundation in both those aspects of what has been involved in my contributions to twitch.
i feel i’ve nothing more to add, nothing more to gain. the issues i’m most keen on tackling certainly perpetuate - bad treatment by companies of those that buy their material, lack of support for sites that promote their product out of personal interest and at personal financial cost, companies that lack the insight and passion enough to be smart about their licenses and how they manage to inform those that might be interested of their release… i have no intention to say i or anyone deserves to wag the dog, but since the internet is a point at which the two groups can interconnect when they would otherwise simply accept things as they are, i would have hoped that, even if for promotional purposes only, there would be more activity connected to blogs and websites than there is; more consistency at least, but there are no certainties in anything connected to films / DVDs it seems.
specific thanks must go to todd first and foremost. twitch is a stunning idea, works well, he puts in a lot of time and effort, invested money in it too.
thanks also to those people who’ve become known more directly to me thanks to their varied interest in me speaking up in support of (in particular) japanese film : the midnighteye guys like jasper sharp, tom mes, jason gray, don brown (also of ryuganji), nick rucka, and so on… people who do such things at other sites like scott green of AICN, grady hendrix, pro-B, ian and chiharu trigg of citaya (who adopted me as their third child), etc… forgive me if i forget anyone, or spell their names wrong, those that have spoken to me, offered advice and help, they’ll all know they’re in a minority and really helped me along over the past few years.
