The Coen Brothers racked up a series of gold men, including best picture. The real treat for those watching the 3 hour+ broadcast was the live performance of “Falling Slowly” from Once which fittingly won best song. After Marion Cotillard‘s win for best actress, I can only urge folks to go out and get a copy of Jeux D’Enfants (aka Love Me if You Dare).

i didnt enjoy Love me if you dare at all

Daniel Day Lewis is the man. There Will Be Blood; I thought was the best film out of the top tier films this year.
Watching Marion Cotillards acceptance speech was touching to an extent. It seems like the act of allowing your true feelings go up on stage when the award is being given to you has slowly been dulled out.

No Oscar For Good Movies

Marion Coutillard’s perf was overwrought. terrible.
this is why i dont watch the Oscars. no awards for good taste.

I loved Cotillard, she elevated a mediocre bio-pic to a compulsively watchable drama. And I know i"m in the minority on Jeux D’Enfants (it has very low RT score).
My favourite of the nominated films was There Will Be Blood also, but 2007 was a really strong year for cinema. Michael Clayton, There Will Be Blood, or Diving Bell and Butterfly could have easily each won if the year wasn’t so strong.
And like it or not, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN was a solid and entertaining movie, with a good villian and great visuals.

oh, i forget the sarcasm tags
i did not say that it’s bad, just not oscarworthy.
I love NCFOM.

So, i was the only one watching porn instead of this?

All in all, I really enjoyed this year’s Oscars. And yes, the real highlight was “Falling Slowly” winning for “Best Song”—and I loved it when Stewart brought Markéta Irglová back onstage so she could give her thanks.
