Tropa de Elite
So the question begs just how many times has everyone seen Hot Fuzz this year? How many times in theaters and how many times on video? Could this be the most watched and re-watched movie that will come out this year? I found it interesting while in Spain during the 40th Sitges Film Festival to see audiences there go absolutely crazy for the film (despite the fact the English subtitles couldn’t even keep up with its joke-a-millisecond). Some press for the UK shrugged and wondered even more what all the hoopla for the movie was they found it to be more akin to television situation comedy stretched out into a feature film and that Mr. Wright’s best work remained to be Spaced. Edgar Wright’s work has never struck me as that. I find it while highly referential and nostalgic to be very much densely made with a really fresh cinematic voice. His riffs on classic cinema style and structure alone hit my funny bone pretty hard (even David Bordwell has a piece about this here). Regardless of where one stands Mr. Wright has pulled off the very tough task of being one of the few filmmakers that can cause the young macho male population to cry in movies, albeit tears of comedy joy!

SEE EDGAR WRIGHT WALK WITH A GLOW, POSE LIKE LEE MARVIN AND MORE!!!
Unknown to most but well known to others is the fact that filmmaker Edgar Wright is a highly successful male fashion model in between making movies. Rumors are his electric photo shoots do very well in monetarily helping fund his subsequent film projects and land him quite a large sum of work appearing on the cover of magazines such as the Italian Vogue and GQ. At the recent 40th Sitges Film Festival Mr. Wright was on hand to demonstrate first hand his male fashion model skills and I happened to be on hand to snap a few pictures. And of course I’m joking about this but I did take pictures of him while at Sitges despite him being in town less than a minute.

As a long time admirer of TWITCH, I have never been moved to write until now.
Not only am I amused at the article, but I am rather intrigued. What’s the Lee Marvin pose exactly. Am I making some kind of meta reference to PRIME CUT in my self concious posing?
For the record, such photo calls are mildly tolerable and amusing when the whole crew is present, but when flying solo they are a supremely awkward experience.
And what the fuck is with the glowing picture. I need answers.
Edgar Wright (the one who isn’t Joe Wright)
p.s. Sitges is a great festival. If any of you ever get the chance to go...uh...go.

Yes the one picture as noted looks so similar to a publicity still of Lee Marvin in Prime Cut (there is a close up shot). So even though it was meant tongue and cheek it really was quite odd at the similarity when comparing.
The glow is just a joke as I don’t know if you heard it but several girls were practically shrieking “he’s glowing, he’s glowing” as you walked out of the Melia to the little photo shoot thing. So hence we made your female fans actually see you glow. I can remove it. The shoot was odd wasn’t it with people shouting at you in Spanish like you knew exactly what they were saying.
All the best and hope you enjoyed the post and my lame attempt at some humor versus just throwing up, “eh hey everyone here is 5 pics of Edgar, yeahhhh”

I heartily appreciate the Lee Marvin comment.
Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I ever looked even a little bit like Lee Marvin.
But please do spread it around, it might mean that I get lucky.
And for the record, glow or no glow, I failed miserably at any dalliances in Sitges.
I clearly need to brush up on my Spanish which at the moment includes only the following phrases;’
“Hot Fuzz: Super Policias!”
“Arma Fatal”
“El Desesparah De Los Muertos”
“Bueno Dias”
“Bueno Noche”
“Es Demento”
“Ey, Cabron!”
Any further advice from bi-lingual contributors would be most welcome.

Arma Fatal poster outside the Melia rocked. No clue what that translates to.
Really a bit hard to tell as I don’t have a scan on hand of it. But its this image in the top left that immediately made me make the connection (of course with a bit less hair):

Well if you make it out again we found a bar there this year that has actual beer taps on most of the tables so one can sit and pour their own beer (and see a running total on top).

Arma Fatale - translates as ‘Lousy Weapon”.
Which is pretty fucking amazing.

I just looked on my pressbook I got there and the big tagline at the top of the poster apparently translates to:
Large Police. Small town. Moderate violence.

Ok, Edgar, here’s one more phrase you can add “excúseme falta, mire por favor mis bragas “ . Just make sure she’s hot and, er, not standing next to her boyfriend.
Oh, and about the glowing thing. I thought that was simply a British thing. Well, in a month or so look up this site ~ datablealbinos.com ~ it’s a “dating” site I’m putting together to market English men! The glowing thing is addressed there.
And, just remember........Datablealbinos.com ~ where “clear is our favorite color!”
