So… I know the rights are being offered up by Gold View Co. Ltd. (Y.K. Gôrudo Byû).
And that the film’s been in limbo since 2005.
But lately I’ve been reading that Shinpei Hayashiya’s Deep Sea Monster Reigo (AKA Reigo, the Deep-Sea Monster vs. the Battleship Yamato (Shinkaijû Reigô) - a.k.a. “Deep Sea Monster Reigo”, “Reigo vs. Yamato”, “Reigô tai Yamato”, and “A-140F6: shinkaijû Reigô sakusen”) was released in Japan on August 16th of 2008.
Can Anyone confirm this?
Does anyone know if the August 16th date actually happened?
Is there a tentative DVD date (in ANY country)?
Is it up for pre-order (subbed) anywhere, on any site?
VCD even?

Below are the two articles I found on the subject, which mention the August 16th date.
One is a blog, the other looks more official.
Below THAT is a correspondence I received in early 2007 from someone at Gold View regarding Reigo.

Dear Mr. Junky,
I am sorry for the delay in responding to your query regarding Reigo.
The film is still not finished yet, and I am hoping it’ll be ready by
Cannes Film Market in May. I will let you know if there would be a
distributor for the American territory. Thank you for your patience and
interest.
Best regards,
