Collin’s brain = fail.
I’m hoping the Twitch faithful can help me brush away the clutter inside my head and recall the name of a film and director said to have inspired Nakata’s seminal Ring.
Nakata studied under a highly-regarded filmmaker in Singapore...? Malaysia...? who had directed a film, I believe it to be mid-80s, about a woman who was haunted by her choice to abort her baby. I feel like the title had “Rite” or “Spring” in there somewhere; the director’s name completely alludes me. This is pretty left-field, but I know it to be true - the details are just super-foggy. I don’t believe the film is available on video.
Any help is appreciated!
