Just got me some 36th Chamber of Shaolin, One Armed Swordsman and My Young Auntie.  King Boxer was sold out, but if all is right in the world, I shall possess it soon.  Hadn’t seen any of these, but watched 36th Chamber the other night and it blew me away.

I am definitely in for Hot Fuzz, next
week. The Host, which I already own,
and Hardboiled: Dragon Dynasty Edition
edition are set to drop as well.
Might have to get Zodiac, depending
on the money made. Spawn looks to be
interesting, I wish it were completed.
Alas, I will be at the DVD shelves talking
to myself into spending too much money.

The Monster Squad

Completely slipped my mind. Guess I’ll have to hold off until next month on this one. Caught an afternoon tv edit a while back and skimped on all the good stuff so I think I deserve to see it in full again!

Picked up my first HD-DVD title last night, THE THING!!!  Just ordered THE FOG, BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF, and RENAISSANCE - import HD-DVD editions all.

That saps my budget for new media for a few weeks!

Been feeding my recent addiction to Mexican Lobby Cards so my DVD purchases have slowed recently but I have just put some orders in for the following:

Black Candles / Evil Eye (Grindhouse Double Feature)
Panic In Needle Park, The (The new US release)
Pick Up / The Teacher (Grindhouse Double Feature)
Turkish Superman

And CDWOW are finally shipping out the Criterion disc Sweet Movie. The buggers had been dragging things out for months (they’ve gone into administration I believe) and I cancelled the other discs If… and WR: Mysteries Of The Organism only to find that they had actually got stock back in… mad

Funny that, the wife and I just sat down two watch the recent (well within the last 10 years) film version of The Importance of Being Earnest, and that quote jumps out of that film, even though it is delivered in passing (like much of Wilde’s words actually!)

Yes, and like much of Wilde’s words they seem pretty funny until they happen to be true!  shut eye

Here we go again, YesAsia, fixing some gaps in my Korean collection:

The Scarlet Letter (Korea)
Eoudong
My Wife is a Gangster (SE)
The Quiet Family (crap edition apparently, but I got it for free!)

Here we go again Play:

Jurassic Park 2 (I swore I’d never do this, but I have 1 and 3 and this was just 4,95…)
Final Destination 1,2,3 boxset.
The Little Norse Prince (nearly all Ghibli or Ghibli-related titles are on sale at Play!!)

Elsewhere:

Cutey Honey R4 (bought this as a gift for a friend and thought, P&P;goes down if I order two, ah who cares)

Picked up DARKMAN and THE HOST on HD-DVD yesterday.  Zero special features on DARKMAN, but THE HOST has almost everything included on the “collector’s edition” standard-def release, which is cool.  I have to say the film left me unimpressed the first time I saw it, but it’s really grown on me.

If I recall, DARKMAN has always been a fair bit rough around the edges in the visual department, I seem to recall this even in 35mm when I saw it in theatres.  How does it look in HD?
