Inital pass through the catalogue of 275 feature films (oi!) has resulted in this painful culling process.  The scheduling process will knock things down to under 40 films, I’m sure.  “1st choices” are my highest priority, but I mark quite a few to fill in empty time slots as “2nd Choices”.

“1st Choices”

The Man From London
Glory to the Filmmaker!

Visions
M
Silent Resident
The Tracey Fragments

Son of Rambow
Jar City (Myrin)
The Banishment (Izgnanie)

Discovery

With Your Permission
The Passage

Canada First
They Wait
Walk All Over Me

Short Cuts Canada
Madame Tutli Putli

Midnight Madness
The Mother of Tears
Frontiere(s)
Diary of the Dead
Vexille
Sukiyaki Western Django
A L’interieur

--------------------------------------

“2nd Choices”

Galas
The Second Wind
Reservation Road

Visions

This may be evidence of my extremely shallow tastes, but in that list THE ONE THING that got me immediately is “Vexille”.
I want to see that bad. On a big screen with excellent sound.

(fingers crossed for IFFR 2008!!!)

DR. PLONK!!!  Anyone know if they’re doing the whole “roadshow” presentation with live music, etc.?  That would be something to see.

Collin - if that were the case, it would be instantly a “FIRST CHOICE” - TIFF gave Guy Maddin’s “Brand upon the Brain!” the full live orchestra/foley artist, etc. etc. treatment last year and it was a spectacular!spectacular!

I’m just finalizing my schedule right now and cursing at the conflicts.

if you had a choice between “Eastern Promises” and “Lust, Caution”, which would you choose? On the one hand, “Eastern Promises” is more likely to get a wide release. On the other hand, it’s fucking Cronenberg. I’m torn. ARG. Why must this happen EVERY YEAR!?

Are you trying to break a record? That’s 44 movies!

Yep, there are a lot of those crazy “50” people that see 5 films a day on average.  It’s insane!

I usually cap out around 40 and even then need 2-3 days to fully recover from it.

For those doing the TIFF lottery, BOX 66 (of 76) was drawn as the starting point for order purchasing!

Oi.  Sucks to be in Box 44 - say goodbye to the Coens and Cronenberg for sure.

:( 25 here. “Eastern Promises” is coming out soon anyway, so I opted out of that. I’m worried about “Lust, Caution”, though. Although since they are 9am screenings at the large Ryerson, I shall hopeful.

Shouldn’t be a problem.  9am weekday screenings generally don’t sell out even during the festival!
