Ardvark you’ve got to hook me up with that Sonatine still! I have the same one in b&w;but this the first time I’ve seen it in full color. I’ve been hunting for quality pics from Kitano’s pre-2002 films and that shot is a classic! Hell all of those are great...I’m going to have to up the stakes a bit!

Oh and you’re right, I’m slowing working my way through the archives. Those 10 are just the China/HK films...I haven’t even skimmed the surface yet!

Thought we could do with a Porco Rosso masthead smile
Had some trouble finding high quality images though. The original image from this masthead was suffering from JPEG artefacts, but I filtered it a little and got rid of most of it. Scaled down to 980px width it looks ok I think:

Wow dude, damn…

That seriously looks like HD quality!

That’s the great thing about animated stills, they are usually taken straight from the cells which are pristine no matter how old the actual film is. Case in point, that excellent Porco Rosso still or the Pom Poko one I posted a while back!

I’ve had two of those TRON mastheads already appear on the Mainsite.  Really digging them!

Also, we used to have a masthead from Porco Rosso that was from the ‘picture taken’ with all the gangsters in a fist-fight while the head gangster is smiling with Porco’s young engineer.  It’s a classic Masthead that is sorely missed IMO.

Thanks, I’m quite fond of the purple landscape with the floating balls.
Because of those kind remarks AND the “Tron 2” news on the main page, it calls for a one more (final for me) “Tron” masthead:

Such a distinctive and colorful movie…
Another eighties favorite which is occasionally mentioned over here:

Also (and totally unrelated) I thought it was time for some Mel Brooks loving:

And now we have it again smile

I had to use my DVD as a source for the image though, so the quality is a lot lower than the other Porco Rosso masthead I did, but I think the old masthead we had of this scene was about the same:

Prolific output, Visualist!

High quality as always, so they’re all uploaded. Those Dasepo shots (especially the pink one) make me giggle as I’ve just seen this film. Good stuff!
