Yesterday I stumbled over this special Dutch edition of Paul Verhoeven’s “Zwartboek” aka. “Black Book”. It was rather cheap (about 25 USD) and MASSIVE so I couldn’t resist.

Even though it’s thinner, the flimsy packaging is actually larger than the Blade Runner briefcase!

zwartboekLE.jpg

It’s nice and has a glossy embossed title, but a magnet to keep the packaging shut would have been nice. It now opens itself when kept upright…

Inside are the two-disc DVD edition, the movie soundtrack on CD and a very nice booklet about the movie, with A4 sized pages.

The same picture, flashed, so you can see how it fits. It’s all cardboard and paper.

I have yet to see the movie Zwartboek, but I looked it up and it sounds interesting.
That Flying Daggers box looks nice… ah well, I’ve got something ells which is pretty sweet though.

This boxset was talked about a little while back. Both movies and five disc in all, packed with bonus stuff.
National Treasure 1&2;leatherbook edition.

I dug this out of the mailbox today (been away for a weeks vacation) and I’m looking forward to digging trough the discs this weekend. If anyone wants a picture of anything in particular from this set, just say so.

Damn, that’s one fine-looking set.

I’m a bit confused about in which countries this version will be released.
Is this the Danish one?

After what I know it’s only been released some places in Europe, but that might have changed since I last checked.
I bought this version of cdon.com (DVDs, CDs, Games etc.), serving Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. It’s also available to the EU, but it’s limited to the music section. When you buy a movie from their site it might come from your own country or your close neighbor, depending on the stock, so I might have the danish edition.

A mysterious globe suddenly materialized out of nowhere in my living room.
Soon, it’ll start playing anthems and teleport dead people over here to fight monsters in a perverted game…

Actually, it was delivered by mail and it’s indeed the “Gantz complete boxset, 100 points perfect score edition”.

And here it is: the so-so outer packaging.

Gantz-100-1.jpg

The absolutely killer inner packaging. It’s a real metal ball!!

Gantz-100-2.jpg

The ball can be screwed open in two halves, revealing the unusual discholder.

Unfolding the discholder.

Gantz-100-4.jpg

The discholder is one ribbon, holding the 5 discs.

This set has all 26 episodes on 5 discs, plus some nice extras.

Looks like I’m really digging black packaging on this page!

In my most recent Twitch-O-Meter column I mentioned the Japanese Limited Collector’s Edition of the “Ghost i/d Shell” DVD. Here it is in more detail:

The outer slipcase, with holes in it, matching Major Kusanagi neck interface:

Inside is the storyboard book, with the DVD inside the bookcover.

GitS-LE2.jpg

Opening the book and the design booklet.

Getting the DVD out of the bookcover.

A very classy package!

Heh.

I think I know what HJG stands for! cheese
But me and your brother both own the Hong Kong Megastar R3, which has DTS-ES 6.1 (and, obviously, is Chinese).

Sometimes you get three different Chinese versions: Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Strangely enough these can be from three different companies with different transfers, soundtracks etcetera…

Picking the best can be a major headache.
But anyway, nice find! I had totally overlooked this one…

Yeah, I think I might go for the figure this time - and then pick up the eventual R1 release down the road for the audio.

A healthy sense of variety.

Love the Christmas Story one. The cookie cutter molds are in the shape of the leg lamp, they turkey and the kid in the bunny suit.

And these sets will be available when? I’m assuming they’re all Region 1? The Casablanca set and Christmas Story definitely capture my interest. Details forthcoming?  Nuff of my questions right? cool smile

The dates haven’t been released yet but they will be released later this year. Most likely near Christmas.
I got this from The Digital Bits. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/mytwocentsa157.html
They got some more stuff, Sopranos complete series, Deadwood complete and The Flintstones complete series.

Nice. Reminds me it’s an alien head though and man that’s making me wanna buy it just so I can drop it from a great height.

I watch Casablanca every Christmas Day...that set would facilitate this traditional function pretty well.
