And this one I got as a present: this years “Hulk”.

Meaning this is a special edition which was overproduced and is now cheaper than even the single-disc edition was planned to be.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you: the superfluous but nicely packaged “The Da Vinci Code”.

Like an A3 paper sheet has the size of two A4 sheets, so would the front of this edition fit two Amarays. And the slipcover has a ‘velours’ coating of tiny hairs:

Removing the slipcover uncovers a cardboard box with a triple lid:

Opening two of the three lids:

Opening the third reveals the contents:

Good fun, even though the movie is quite unnecessary if you’ve read the book.

Speaking of which, that little booklet full of diagrams is a hoot if you’ve read both “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons”. It’s full of references to the books and almost worth the money (alledgedly 9 Euro) all by itself…

One visitor at my house actually recognized those tiles from the forum: “Hey, this must be where you take all those photos!”.

Because of the large “42...” on the packaging they maybe thought it was “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy"-related?

Just spied Le Grand Chef LE up for pre-order, limited to 1000 pieces. I like these novelty cases.

In case anyone was thinking about picking up the Lust, Caution special edition… dvdfromkorea.com has it for $10 cheaper than yesasia right now!

Also, yesasia has a taiwan special edition that looks pretty nice, complete with a business card holder!!

Yet another look at my tiles, and the package on them ought to be recognized by BtoFu as he was the previous owner. Who says a trade can’t be beneficial for both parties? cheese

This is the “King and the Clown” Korean Limited Edition:

To show just how pretty this is (colorful AND gold-embossed) I show two more pics under different lighting:

Opening the case reveals that the “mirror”, seen from the front, is actually the Soundtrack CD.

Inside are the booklet, the 3 DVDs and a set of postcards.

The insides unfolded:

Mighty pretty, and so is the movie!

The fancy Korean Limited Edition of Lust, Caution:

Getting the discs out. I like how they put all posters used for this movie on the front and back of the inner sleeve.

Well, just went after some more SE photos - This batch is the Alien R2 UK head set, the German R2 Fistful of Dollars/Few Dollars More Box and the R2 UK Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe SE.

I took shots of the new R1 LE of El Cid and the R2 Japan Premium Edition of Shinobi, but they turned out like ass.  I really need to work on getting decent lighting and focus - although I’m not sure why it’s so hard with my digital camera.  I may have to try using the kitchen floor tiles - but I’m not sure that the overhead light in there is much better.

Alien Quadrilogy Head Collection (includes the standard Quadrilogy packaging):

As far as I know it’s essentially identical to the R2J one except it didn’t come with a little Kubrick figure like the Japanese release did and the disc artwork is different.  I’ve also got to admit that this week is the first time I took it out of the box since I got it - maybe 2, 2 1/2 years ago since I’ve been traveling and moving in the army the whole time.  Disappointingly, the plastic disc holders in the quadrilogy packaging were broken in a couple spots but I may be able to glue them back - not a huge deal though.

Again, I’ve had this thing for a while in storage—I can’t actually confirm if the watch works or used to work at this stage.  I can set the time, but winding it doesn’t seem to do anything ;p Maybe it’s just me.  It’s a nice wooden box, leather “hinges” are stapled to the top and sides - the little padlock and keys actually work too.

R2 UK Chronicles of Narnia - Amazon SE—I think this one was only available through Amazon UK, but I could be mistaken.

That little blue box has a mini-flashlight/lamp.

Hopefully I’ll be able to go back and get some better shots of some of the other sets I mentioned before - also the new Sukiyaki Western Django SE - watched that one last night.

*edit* just got the Japanese R2 Premium edition of Appleseed Ex Machina and watched the HD_DVD version of that one tonight as well - sweet package.
