(1) all that wasted space to the right once you scroll down a bit
Hmmm… methinks you’d see more empty space in the left column, except on really long entries.
That does make sense. I can see why you’d want that column to stay narrower with the size of the graphics you use, and it’s a really minor quibble anyway.
(3) the way it kind of screws up when you view it at a resolution lower than 1024x768.
Well, that’s somewhat unavoidable because the design is optimized for 1024x768 monitors. We decided to go that route for various reasons—more flexibility with content and ads, as well as based on our stats— plus the majority of users (91% at last count) were on displays that were 1024x768 or higher.
Yeah, I was mostly referring to the footer and the background, but again, not a big deal, everything is still readable, which is what’s most important.
I agree with the one comment about wanting to view the details of the Masthead somehow (outside of searching for it in the gallery).
It’s certainly not out of the question. There are some other kinks that need to be ironed out, and then we’ll see.
That’s good to hear! It’s something I always wished for with the original Twitch design.
I know how much work it is to do a big revamp like this, and I’m happy to see the good old Twitch hasn’t changed that much. Congrats!
Thanks for the kind words. Believe it or not, all of this is kind of fun for me, and I don’t mind spending all of the necessary time and energy. Of course, my wife might have some different thoughts on the matter.
Thanks for listening to my thoughts! I appreciate all the effort, and hopefully you can spend a little time with your wife now that this is mostly done. ![]()
