As I’m sure you’ve probably noticed, Twitch has undergone a pretty major facelift. But the changes run much deeper than just a simple facelift. Twitch is now running on a brand new content management system that is much more flexible and powerful than our old one, which will hopefully make it easier for us to publish articles and you to find and read them.
There are a few minor issues that you need to be aware of.
One of the biggest is that the old forums have been deprecated. We are not getting rid of them, but this does mean that you’ll have to re-register (which, if you’re reading this, chances are you have re-registered). We realize that this is terribly inconvenient, and we apologize, but we think that in the long run, you’ll dig the new system a lot.
We’ve also left all of the old Twitch archives intact, so that we don’t create a bunch of broken links around the Intertubes. These will eventually go away, but for now, we thought it best if they remain. That being said, you might encounter some broken links here and there. But don’t worry… everything’s still there. We’ve just moved it around. Thankfully, the new Twitch has a much more powerful search engine, so it should be even easier to find what you’re looking for.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to post them in this topic or contact us directly.
We optimized this version of the site for people running resolution at 1024 pixels. The old version was already wider than 800 without taking full advantage of the higher res so it made sense to go all the way with it.
Masthead still does not have name of movie, me upset and what happended to view all masthead, I think it was taking to much bandwith to viewall masthead…

Huh? “Masthead Gallery” seems obvious enough…
yeh i know but i’d rather see the name of the movie underneath the masthead rather than wasting twitch’s bandwidth searching through all the pictures just to find the name.
I just commented in your “Welcome To The New Twitch” entry. Basically, I do like the new look and features, though I’m still testing it out. But the font size is too small!!!
Nice work, the new site is quite sexy. Is there a way to choose a black text on white background preference like the previous version? White on black is too hard to read paragraphs on, especially with the small font.
Now that I’m not “exceeding the allowed page load frequency” anymore… I like it. A couple things I’m not thrilled with would include (1) all that wasted space to the right once you scroll down a bit, (2) the bizarre ad placement in the middle of the page, and (3) the way it kind of screws up when you view it at a resolution lower than 1024x768. Of course, these could all be fixed by some fairly simple CSS changes, and aren’t really that big of a deal in the end. It’s the new functionality that’s important, and I’m glad to see that working fine. I agree with the one comment about wanting to view the details of the Masthead somehow (outside of searching for it in the gallery). I know how much work it is to do a big revamp like this, and I’m happy to see the good old Twitch hasn’t changed that much. Congrats!

As of right now, there is no “black on white” version. Once we’ve got all of big kinks worked out, I’ll see what I can do.
(1) all that wasted space to the right once you scroll down a bit
Hmmm… methinks you’d see more empty space in the left column, except on really long entries.

(3) the way it kind of screws up when you view it at a resolution lower than 1024x768.
Well, that’s somewhat unavoidable because the design is optimized for 1024x768 monitors. We decided to go that route for various reasons—more flexibility with content and ads, as well as based on our stats— plus the majority of users (91% at last count) were on displays that were 1024x768 or higher.

It’s certainly not out of the question. There are some other kinks that need to be ironed out, and then we’ll see.

Thanks for the kind words. Believe it or not, all of this is kind of fun for me, and I don’t mind spending all of the necessary time and energy. Of course, my wife might have some different thoughts on the matter.
Question about member preferences: What is Smart Notification, found under email settings?
If “Enable Smart Notifications” is checked, you should receive one e-mail if a forum topic that you’ve subscribed to has received new replies since you last visited the topic.
If it is not checked, you should receive an e-mail for every unread reply.
Essentially, it’s a way for you to control how much e-mail you receive from the forums when there’s new activity on topics that you’ve subscribed to. Some people might want to be notified every time, whereas some people might just want to receive a single e-mail every now and again. Hence the option in your profile.

Thankyou for considering having names under the mastheads, I think this would save a lot of bandwidth and a lot of time, if we’d like to watch one of the movies that the the masthead shows.
