One of the most requested features for Twitch was the creation of a “work-safe” version of the homepage that doesn’t have all of the naughty stuff that might get you in trouble with your boss/spouse/etc.

Well, now you have it.  By default, Twitch’s homepage runs in work-safe mode.  However, if you want to see the “NSFW” version, you’ll need to be logged into your member account (or sign up for one if you don’t have one already).

Once you’ve logged in, click on the “Edit your profile” at the top of the page.  Then, click on “Edit Profile” under the “Personal Settings” tab.  This form allows you to update your personal info.  At the bottom of the form is an option titled “Display entries that aren’t safe for work?”.

Select “Yes” if you want to see the “NSFW” version of the site, and “No” if you want the “work-safe” version of the homepage.  Once you’ve made your choice, click on the “Update” button.  The changes should take effect immediately.

The main problem I had with NSFW content was simply the pictures some authors would post. I don’t really want to turn off the NSFW articles if they’re only marked that because they link to NSFW material, but this new functionality might make the authors more inclined to post NSFW pics as well (since they can turn it off, nobody has a reason to complain). If all I’m worried about is someone coming up behind me and seeing something I’d rather they didn’t, do you think it’s still a good idea to run the SFW site? I just hate the thought of missing articles.

I don’t know if this mattered to folks, but I just realized that the newsfeeds weren’t necessarily work-safe.  They were still displaying non-worksafe material.  I’ve remedied this and cooked up work-safe versions of Twitch’s newsfeeds.
