The following Region 2 sets of National Treasure 1&2;(Ltd Treasure Box Set) 5 disc get released on May 21st in Denmark. There’s also a Japanese set coming on June 6th (shown below.) Although these Disney films may not be on the top of my favorite’s list, these forthcoming LE box sets definitely are!!!
From what I understand, the discs in the Danish set fit into the pages themselves. I’ve already pre-ordered this set from http://www.dvd.se (although the postage costs on this are a bit much!!)
I think that often with Region 3 fancified editions, (of primarily asian films I guess) you often have the benefit of not having seen them before and if the film turns out to be a turkey the fact that you have a swanky package is a decent consolation prize. My point being that the National Treasure set looks very nice indeed - but I’ve seen the first one and I just can’t stick Nic Cage enough these days to want to invest in it.
It would be cool to see some pics of the EVIL DEAD “Book of the Dead” editions.
I have ‘em here, but you guys are so talented taking those pics that I guess they’ll look much better that way.
OK, how can we refuse a question like that? Evil Dead editions coming right up!
But first, here is the Hong Kong R3 release of “Royal Tramp” and “Royal Tramp II”.
Nothing special, right? You take the banner off and you open the magnetic case. Simple as that:
But when you take the Amaray out, it contains both movies. So what makes up for the rest of this space?
Why is the whole package so thick?
Took me a while to figure this one out!
And only when I laid it on the table none-too-gently did the solution suddenly make itself apparent. Look for the difference between the picture below and the picture above…
A hidden hinge! Seriously, unless you move the box in the exact right direction it’s damn hard to find. It seems easy once you know it but the package is remarkably sturdy. Anyway, there is a hidden compartment.
It contains only a seemingly empty notebook, but completely in line with the movies a few pages have a sutra printed on them. Closer inspection reveals it’s actually a bit of dialogue taken from the movie.
All in all a clever package and cheap too, given that you get two Stephen Chow movies in a nice keepsake box.
Yeah I didn’t get that case at first either, but it is pretty cool! As for The Game, I only watched about 30 minutes of it and feel asleep (it was late), but it seems more like a vehicle for Shin Ha Kyun to be awesome than a good movie, if you know what I mean.
This is yet another version of the leather set of National Treasure, this is from a Swiss website:

dvd.se is a Swedish site, I checked on laserdisken.dk, the site I use for Danish films, and it wasn’t there. I sure didn’t like the first National treasure so it would be hard to justify this purchase but that packaging is just so damn cool.

The Evil Dead “Book of the Dead” editions.
“Evil Dead 2” will be coming shortly, once I got my sound effects straightened out a bit.
But first, here it is: the first “Evil Dead”, Book of the Dead Edition! Bought cheap in the UK (a feat which I unfortunately couldn’t repeat with “Evil Dead II”, as the ED-II BotD-edition couldn’t be released in Britain because of rights issues)
Taking the spectacularly ugly packaging out of the plain ugly packaging. And it stinks! The smell needs to be experienced to be believed…
Extras hidden inside: a booklet on all ownable editions of Evil Dead released EVER, and an unrelated movie starring Bruce Campbell.
The “Evil Dead” disc is hidden in the inside-back cover.
