I’m looking to purchase a handful of movie posters for my theater room and wanted some opinions on what are the best looking movie posters of all time. Looking for kinda artsy posters....

Always loved the sheets for Tati’s Hulot films, too.  Cheap reprints of those are pretty easy to find.

I’ve always loved the original sheet for “2001: A Space Odyssey”:

The Japanese poster for Jean-Pierre Melville’s Army of Shadows is a classic. Suspiria poster is a classic. The Hong Kong poster of Tsui Hark’s Blade that scrolls out like this 40x8-ish poster is amazing.

Beyond that it would depend on what your looking for. More of an original painting (French), abstract (Polish), contemporary/traditional (US) or more edgy (Spain, Italy) or more collage-esque (Japan).

Additionally Italian photobustas (nearly double the size of a lobbycard) make great artwork for decoration.

If you are looking for artsy posters then you can’t lose with Polish posters. Just remember that they vary in sizes and are not the same size as US one sheets and they can demand a hefty price if you are looking for originals.

I also really like the banned poster for Captivity, only used in Spain I think, which is where I got my copy.

Can’t go wrong with McQueen.  Star Wars Ep 4 was also cool.

This one is VERY daring in today’s USA, tagline and all.
