Only because nobody’s mentioned them yet - although very excited by the above - several I haven’t seen.
Funny Games for the two lovers above of Man Bites Dog
Une Journee Bien Remplie for the Sympathy For Mr Vengeance fans above
Barn of The Blood Llama for the exploitation fans
Crippled Masters for the obscure kung fu fans
Tale of Tales - Skazka skazok - for the animation fans
Romauld Et Juliette - for the Korean romance fans
Tampopo - I could not live without watching this film and eating ramen at the same time.
Tree of Cloggs - for affirmation
The Mission/The Warrior double bill in anticipation of The Kite Runner
Survive Style 5+ for the laugh at the end of the advertising sequences
Mediterraneo - before going on holiday
Ice Cold In Alex - with a cold beer
The Son Of The Bride
Cyrano De Bergerac
Golgo 13 - and all the Bournes
Society - cos it’s totally bonkers and has Billy “the dude that does the funny dive in the opening credits of Baywatch Series 1” in it, with a goo fest finale
Dark Star - because hippies in space can always find time in my viewing roster
Brothers of The Head - for being amazing
Celine and Julie Go Boating - for nostalgia
Alicia Scherson’s - Play - for the value of rewatching
La Haine/La Vie En Rose - the “I regret nothing” double bill
Batman Returns for the French flipper
Grave Of The Fireflies - as a reminder
Then there are the ones that you love but can’t explain. Gigli is a runt few love - i think “Gobble, gobble, it’s turkey time” is one of the finest crafted lines in film history. Gremlins 2, also takes pride of place on the shelf in my room, because it has a hot gremlin that looks like the cracker version of Miss Piggy. I also liked the first Critters. Volere Volare - cartoon/reality meta sex comedy - what’s not to love. Grease 2 because I saw it before Grease and always had a boner for Michelle Pfeiffer in pink bowling pants. Wheels On Meals - I think it’s better than Game Of Death although it’s heresy to say so.
The above are some of the films I could not live without.
This belongs in a different category: but I’m excited by We Are The Strange, Four Eyed Monsters and, though unrelated, I am loving Joao Machado’s Sons Of Saturn which you can find in full on Google Video and by way of that, his earlier feature The Champagne Club.
