Fresh from the UK release of Joachim Trier’s debut film REPRISE, UK DVD label Diffusion Pictures are now releasing Lars von Trier’s The Boss Of It All on Region 2 DVD, for those without a Multi Region DVD player this is good news. Now a guilty pleasure I’m sure sure everyone loves is a trashy Bollywood Action film, following hot on the heels of lasts Bollywood success Dhoom 2, the Screenwriter and Producers of said hot, comes ‘Tashan’. A very nice trailer can be seen in the links section, the film is showing in UK Cinemas nationwide.
The film tells the story about call center executive Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), gangster Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) and Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), a girl who can’t be trusted. The three of them are on a dangerous journey across India, which will alter the course of their lives in more ways than one. In addition to that, there is the evil eye of Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor), a maverick gangster who enjoys killing people as much as he enjoys speaking English
Austrian Horror Dead in 3 days was a big enough success to recieve a Sequel which is currently being remade, so is it any good?, well for those wanting to see if the film was worthy of a sequel or not, a DVD release is being issued in Australia with English Subtitles on 14 May, 2008.

One of last years most interesting Russian films was the $10million Budget lavish historical war epic Sluga Gosudarev, the film was a moderate Box Office success in its homeland, looks very pretty from the trailer and stars Wolfhounds (Volkodav iz roda serykh psov) very own Aleksandr Bukharov. Hot on the heels of last years success ‘Fritt Vilt’ Norway has took another ‘stab’ at the slasher genre, although not as successful as Fritt Vilt at the Box office, Rovdyr looks like a fun ride from the trailer. Well news has just came through that a DVD release is imminent and the good news is that firstly its English Friendly and secondly theres also a Blu-Ray release to coincide with the standard DVD release again featuring English Subtitles. So while everyone else worldwide is waiting for the theatrical release of Greg Mcleans ( Wolf Creek ) ‘Rogue’, Australia had the Theatrical release last November and the DVD release is due May 29th 08’ in its native homeland of Australia. A opening date has not been set for the US or the UK yet, thats if it is going into the Cinemas and not being dumped Straight to DVD.

Theres hasnt been a large amount of Swedish films lately worth keeping a eye on, but 2007 Swedish thriller Solstorm seems to be the exception, the film is based on a success novel by Asa Larsson, the first book and film about Rebecka Martinsson, who is a Stockholm based lawyer returning to her native village to help her beast friend who is suspected of the murder. The film has just hit DVD in Sweden and is English friendly, see the links below for trailer and official site.
At last a English friendly DVD release for the Russian Actioneer Paragraph 78, which has been covered here at Twitch since the plot details first appeared well over two years. Strangely the first DVD release with English subtitles appears again in Brazil ( the same thing happened with Russian Fantasy Epic ‘Wolfhound’ ), the DVD appears to be the International Cut ( Todds review can be seen below in the links ) of the film clocking in just over Two hours. Korean director Joon-Ho Bong ( The Host , Memories of Murder ) is a big favorite around here at Twitch, now his first full length film as both Director and Writer is available on a DVD release outside of Asia for the first time. The release is being handled by Madman films who seem to have their fingers firmly on the pulse when it comes to Korean DVD releases, the DVD is due for release on 09 April. Cedric Klapisch’s is a French director who is always worth keeping a keen eye on, after previous cult hits L’Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment) and Les Poupées Russes (The Russian Dolls), the directors latest goes simply by the name of ‘Paris’. Klapisch has again managed to assemble a impressive cast featuring such stars as Romain Duris ( The Beat That my Heart Skipped ) , Juliette Binoche ( Cache/Hidden , Three colours Red ) and François Cluzet ( Tell No One ), the films hits French cinemas on the 20th February and again looks set to be one of the biggest Box Office hits of the year if Klapish’s previous Box Office success is anything to go by. ‘Phoo Action’, a new upcoming BBC3 Action Comedy is about to screen here on February 12th , and it looks as if its worth a watch. The Action-Comedy stars Hollywood big hitter Carl Weathers along with upcoming UK talent Jamie Winstone ( Kidulthood ), as you can see from the trailer, its not taking itself seriously and looks like a funride. A quote from the Creative Director of Phoo Action Jamie Hewlett is quoted in a recently UK tabloid as stating “I think it’s the most weird and radical thing that the BBC have taken on since the Young Ones first aired in the early Eighties.” Lets hope it lives up to that statement.
