I can take or leave this sort of thing. But as stage comedians go Lopez has pretty deep roots and he’s pretty gifted as riffing on the tension between Hispanics and Americas decreasingly white mainstream. If we’re left wanting more in the end it probably has more to do with Lopez’ knack for knowing when to stop in case he should too deeply offend his still pretty white constituency. Still all told this is a funny enough hour long time waster from a veteran who knows how to work a crowd as well as write solid material. The only extra here is just another indication that Lopez hasn’t yet found a way to stretch his persona beyond the confines of standup and TV and basically consists of an interview with him.. Still most people never polish their craft to quite this sheen.
