Video game movies ain't exactly the greatest masterpieces in the world when you consider its track record (**cough** Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li **cough**) so my expectation for the live action adaptation of Namco's fighting game Tekken was set very low. After watching the trailer via Play.com, I must hand it to them for remaining faithful to the look of the characters and casting actual martial artist. Will this elevate the standard for video game adaptation? Possibly but then again, raising the bar doesn't say a whole lot to begin with. At the very least, I'm hoping it may pass for a decent entertainment.
The year is 2039. World Wars have destroyed much of civilization as we know it. The remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations, the mightiest of which is Tekken.Optimum Releasing will release Tekken directly to DVD in the UK on April 5th. You'll find the trailer embedded below.
In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.

At least it looks better than Legend of Chun Li...
Holy sh*!
looks so damn sick!
Will this be one of the best game adaptations? Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat 1 had it.
This looks so promising, all characters have their own unique game looking costumes too.
Unlike King of Fighters movie:/
Well, it's gotta be better than playing Tekken 6. No load times.
This looks TERRIBLE.
I don't know what to say. It looks more DTV than I was expecting. At least Foo looks likable as Jin.
I'd be cool if they could work in the panda, cheeta-head guy and the wooden dude. Would I be asking too much for the giant green demon-dragon guy too?
What's with the song? Was this movie made in the late 90s? Anyway, another fithing franchise that gets an awful movie, what's next? Guilty Gear? There aren't any more franchises left.
I've been waiting to see this trailer and after seeing it i'm up in the air about it. But this does have a stacked cast of some hardcore stuntmen and no bulls**t martial artists playing the characters so in all hopes the action and coreography should be pretty impressive. I'm open minded for this one and looking forward to see how this pans out.
Great casting for the main. The rest doesn't look great, though.
im not expecting a whole lot from this movie but compared to all the other crap video game remakes this actually looks pretty decent and i cant wait to see it
Almost looks as bad as Tekken 6 online.
Oh and it may be the wig but Cary Tagawa looks like he'll be entering the king of iron bedpan tournament instead.
Not enough boobs , and fast cars.
We will have to wait and see, don't we. Hope is high though. Thank you TWITCH for the trailer!
