What is Katsuhito Ishii's Ichigo Seminar? Honestly, I don't really know. English language information is completely non-existent and even Japanese info seems largely limited to shops selling the just-released DVD. But from the looks of things it's a one off, straight to video comedy drama revolving around a high school girl with way too many sparkly things glued to her fingernails. Which normally would not be particularly interesting to me but when the director is the brilliant Katsuhito Ishii (Taste of Tea, Funky Forest, My Darling of the Mountains) and Oscar-nominated actress Rinko Kikuchi is in the cast ... well, that gets my attention. Any pointers to a synopsis or trailer greatly appreciated but in the mean time we've got a gallery of stills below.

Took a look around, and It's actually a mini mobile drama for Lismo, with four 5 minutes episodes, which aired this summer. Minami Akina (the girl up there in the pic) is a Gravure model who often shows up on variety shows and is the lead, so I guess Rinko is just a guest. Cram school comedy.
