Break ins, print theft and duplicitous name changes? That's what Michael Belt and FilmTheft.com are claiming in an email news release just sent out to media and industry attendees of the American Film Market. Here's the complete text of the email:
Is there any truth to these claims? I have no idea, though I have just sent out a request to Epic Pictures for comment. But what I do know is this: FilmTheft.com did not exist in any form before October 19th of this year when the domain was initially registered. Registered by whom is a mystery as the WhoIs record has been filed anonymously. On the FilmTheft website itself? Nothing but this claim against Epic Pictures. No history. No other activity. Foreign Sales Agent Patrick Ewald and Epic Pictures Inc are offering a film under the thinly disguised name KILL SPEED-FAST CASH. The film is embroiled in litigation including copyright claims and police reports of stolen property.
Court records show that the film originally produced under the title Fast Glass but after copyright claims were made by Screenwriter Tony Tiscareno against the films Writer-Director Kim Bass, the Producers offices were burglarized and the negative was stolen. Court papers reveal that Mr. Bass and Epic Pictures re-named the film as NO MORE GAMES and listed it at AFM. After discovering the attempt to sell stolen property, the films producer AFI sued Mr. Bass and Epic Pictures who proceeded to yet again re-name the film calling it KILL SPEED.
Experts believe that Film Piracy is a multi billion dollar industry. Buyers, distributors and studios take great care to ensure that a film has a clean chain of title and all the paperwork is in order.

I am no lawyer but the lawsuits are real enough thats for sure. The one says the police are involved. The LA Superior Court has them on file dating back to September and the copies are posted to these links on the website.

Any Tom Dick-Harry could see it's clearly a ruse for the filmmakers to create hype for their a non fictional documentary story "Hollywood Heist: The Story of the Multibillion Dollar Heist of Kill Speed/No More Games." Or as they call it short hand, "HH:TSOFMDHOKS/NMG."

On October 27, 2009 Dave Riggs' "lawsuits/claims" against Kim Bass and the movie were all DENIED in court! Riggs LOST again! But since he's a con-artist, he didn't post the judges ruling. Do your research before falling for this 2 x convicted felons lies.
If this guy embezzled over 2 million dollars from the investors - why would he put up legal papers showing there's a lawsuit against these guys - it doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, I saw the trailer on youtube up under Fast Glass...Nice flick! Good luck with the film.
It does not look like this case is won at all. The link online has a court stamped document that was filed Nov 3, 2009 - like yesterday - so whatever happened Oct 27 is meaningless.

Did somebody mention Dave Riggs? He's a two time convicted felon who spent some sleepless nights in a Hong Kong prison (not sure what they do to you there?) and Leavenworth (Everybody knows what they do to you there!) This guy thinks he's a baby Bernie Madoff.

This thing is pretty remarkable here ... someone's spending a ton of money to try and make both Patrick and Epic look bad. They've had picketers out front of the Loews hotel today plus sign trucks parked across the street with billboards telling people not to do business with Ewald or Epic. This is very personal, very nasty, and very likely to be hit with a lible suit.

And stratcatblues, you seem to have a very intimate knowledge of court documents, but here is a news flash, court documents do lie! That's why one side usually wins and the other side loses. Someone is lying.
But I'll tell you what doesn't lie, Superior Court Judge's ruling! A simple search of the LA Superior court website for Riggs will find a filed ruling on June 16th, 2008 where the Judge stated, and I quote "Mr. Riggs's testimony is highly suspect. While he tries to tries to show that he has changed his ways since his felony convictions years ago, ............he remains capable of SAYING and DOING whatever suits his fancy at the moment for his personal gain"
No more needs to be said after that comment!
