Ladies and gentlemen, Black Dynamite needs your help. Regular readers of this space are well aware of our love for this film already and we're asking you to go out and support it. Sony took a big risk by dropping a lot of money to pick this one up and put it out in theaters, risk being a figurative as well as literal four letter word around studios these days. They thought it was worth it because fans like us made some noise and now it's up to us to get out and support it. If we don't the consequences go a lot farther than just this one movie. You see, studios generally only support things that have easy and obvious - and successful - comparison points in films that have come before. This is why Hollywood puts out a never ending stream of the same old stuff and why the remake craze is in such full effect. If, when they take a chance on something original and unusual, the risky films fail they will simply respond by refusing to support any more risky films - in other words the sort of stuff that we love around here.
This is Black Dynamite's opening weekend and opening weekend is king. If it performs it has a chance of expanding and receiving an increased marketing push. If it fails, it gets yanked and the hopes of a whole lot of other unusual films get yanked with it. So, if you're near any of the following theaters and looking for a film alternative to the fucking Vampire's Assistant then get out and see this.

Too bad I live in Sweden........ It's waiting! I can't take it! I want my Dynamite now!
Yeah, people, I want this to make it over to Europe ! I already bought the soundtrack. Hopefully all the NYC Hipster will pick this up and like it (ironically of course) they have the human resources to make this a hit !
Coming to the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, MA starting 11/13. Midnight showings all around!!

I live in Mexico :(
I checked it out on opening day and told everyone I knew to go. None of my frineds, family nor classmates had heard of this film. It indeed is a funny flick.
Saw it twice in L.A. possibly 3times this weekend. been recommending it to everyone.
See it for the orphans, because orphans don't have parents!
I really expected Landmark to be showing Black Dynamite here. They have 3 theaters and none of them are scheduled to show it.
Seriously, 18 theaters in the US are showing this and Sony still isn't sure if it will make money? I know people in rural MO who want to see this. Opening distribution to places other than Chicago or the coastal arthouses will enable more viewers and money. Does anybody remember 'Idiocracy'?
dyn-o-mite!
Someone tell Sony (and all other studios for that matter) that the South also has movie theaters. You yankees always get the good stuff. I guess I should just be happy Moon came to Houston.
I saw this movie at the Midnight showing at the Arclight in LA. I also have been telling everyone I know to go and see it, Its definitly one of the best hands down films of this year.
