So, about 15 hours ago via his Twitter actor Robert Llewellyn who plays the role of Kryten in the britcom Red Dwarf tweeted that a tenth series of the show has been commissioned and will begin filming in 2010...
Series 10 of Red Dwarf announcement just been made at DJ 09. To clarify the scripts have been commissioned, wont be filming til 2010
Last month Stuart Snaith from 2 Entertain said something of the same ilk, 'recommissioned as a series next year', but then quickly backtracked, 'There is no confirmed new series of Red Dwarf, just some talk of the possibility.' Looks like he spoke to soon and was trying to cover his tracks. Today at Dimension Jump 09, a Red Dwarf convention, the announcement was made.
So Red Dwarf Back to Earth was so staggeringly popular last year - god knows why - that they have decided to do it all over again. No word if BBC2 or DAVE will be the network of choice for this one. The original 8 series aired on the latter and the abysmal 3 part series 9 aired on the former. Still wondering what side of the fence I am on?
Here are my suggestions if indeed the powers that be really intend on doing this. Go back to the live audience and put jokes in the script. It is a comedy after all. Back to the Earth was an embarrassment in my opinion.

for God's sake what are you on man? How the hell do you think you have authority to talk about comedy when its glaringly obvious you dont have a damn clue what humour is about.
e.g "So Red Dwarf Back to Earth was so staggeringly popular last year - god knows why"
Please stop writing, you just make yourself look a complete and utter fool
I wish someone would write a proper article about the new Red Dwarf season on here. Save your piss poor opinion for someone who cares.
Gents, gents.
This is NOT a review, it's a bit of news. Mack can attach his opinion if he likes. After all he is just being honest.
If you are a fan, rejoice: a 10th season is approaching. If you WERE a fan but are very disappointed with the more recent shows, be apprehensive. Or indifferent.
And I can see where Mack is coming from:
I liked season one.
I liked season two better.
I absolutely LOVE season three.
I absolutely LOVE season four.
I absolutely LOVE season five.
I love a lot of season six but think it's somewhat overrated.
I liked some parts of season seven.
Finishing season eight is still on my list.
So, ehm...
There was a three part season nine?
The movie had the characters meeting the actors?
They count Back to Earth as nine I figure. RD was never the same after Grant left. Opinion.
I loved Series 1-6, 7 and 8 were still good but the addition of Kochanski was mostly annoying she should have just stayed Listers dream girl but instead she became a naggy pain in the ass character. I agree they should add the live audience back and stop trying to be a drama I still liked the Back to Earth movie but ultimately it was depressing I just felt bad for Lister, and where the hell is Holly?
