Final Trailer For Martial Arts Fantasy THE STORM WARRIORS!

by Todd Brown, October 18, 2009 10:41 PM

With the arrival of the long-in-post-production martial arts fantasy The Storm Warriors edging ever nearer the PR gods have opted to bless us with one final trailer before the film's theatrical release in December.  This, of course, is the long awaited sequel to Hong Kong hit The Storm Riders, a film that reunites original stars Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok under the direction of visual stylists - and helmers of horror hit The Eye - The Pang Brothers.  It's the first Hong Kong effort to employ the green-screen based approach pioneered by the likes of Sin City and 300 and while the Pangs are often criticized for the weakness of their scripts there's no denying that the duo has incredible visual chops.  Expect - at the very least - absolutely glorious eye candy.

Some audio issues with the trailer. Other than that, it was pretty decent. Not great, but it didn't suck. Simon Yam STILL looks ridiculous, though I admit to always having a soft spot for Ekin Cheng.

wat? it looks great! audio issues are to do with the compression of the trailer...

Simon Yam looks badass, what are you talking about.

Simon Yam's outfit doesn't work. The helmet makes him look like a participant at a gay pride parade rather than a conqueror. Just my opinion, of course. Dig Ekin's new outfit, though. Wind has a calming, soothing presence, but is not above becoming destructive when required. Ekin managed to pull that off very well in the original film.

Trailer looks OK. I do love Ekin. I don't see Simon as a badass conqueror. But, I am going to check it out.

damn, i have been waiting for 10 years for this movie... i cant wait to see Kenny Ho as Nameless, am really happy to see him on screen again after many many years of absense... FYI: he played Wah Yin Hong in A Man Called Hero tv series back in the 80s, and Ekin played Wah Yin Hong in A Man Called Hero film in '99...
the trailer could've been better.. anyway, idefinitely will watch it..

As much as I love Ekin, the 1999 A Man Called Hero movie was absolute arse...
